Emmett and Winifred Taylor papers, 1941-1980.

Collection consists of Taylor family letters, recipes, stock certificates, greeting cards and miscellany. Collection includes incoming correspondence (1911-1945) to Winnie Taylor from her husband Emmett Taylor and from her parents Jasper and Mary Ellen Vincent. In addition, there is correspondence (1950-1978) from Emmett and Winnie Taylor to their daughter Dorothy Taylor Alexander, son-in-law James "Smokey" Alexander, and grand-daughter Denise Alexander. There are also stock certificates (1917-1948), tax notices, Christmas cards, and recipes. Also included is biographical material, including death certificates, an obituary, and a reminiscence by Denise Alexander Bittner.

Emmett Gordon Taylor was born in Somerset, Kentucky, on March 15, 1890, the son of John and Lula Lee (Vaught) Taylor. He moved to Livingston, Montana, about 1910 and worked for several grocery companies until moving to Missoula in 1922. He married Winifred Vincent on May 10, 1914. In Missoula he was a salesman for Montana Flour Mills from about 1932 to 1950, and then sold real estate. He retired in 1969, and moved to Boise, Idaho in 1979. He died there on February 2, 1980. ...
